Jen woke up feeling like crap, and she wasn’t happy about that. Looking around, she suddenly panicked since she realized that she was in a hospital room. She removed the blankets and was about to get out of the bed when Travis came over to her. She looked into his protective, concerned eyes. “My kids...” she said with dread in her voice.

“They are still with the Wells. You need to get back in the bed,” Travis said, exhausted. He pushed her back into bed, and pulled the blanket back up.

Jen lay back in her bed, looking around before lowering her eyes because of her headache. “Who called you?” she asked while squinting at Travis.

Travis sat down on her bed, then closed his eyes at the bad memory for him. “No one. I witnessed everything,” he said despondently.

Jen looked at him with tear-filled eyes. “I don’t remember much. I just felt fuzzy, and I knew it wasn’t normal,” she said with her tears breaking free and running down her face. She was choked with frustration. As she lay in the hospital bed, with Travis moving in to give her a big warm hug, she cried. Jen was wondering whether Luke had gone through with whatever he had planned.

Travis must have sensed her fear, for he pulled back and looked deep into her eyes. “I got there just in time, so don’t worry about anything. You only went to dinner with Luke,” he finished soothingly.

Jen cried a sigh of relief, and felt sick while falling back into Travis’s strong arms for comfort. Travis was able to hold her for some time before Dr. Holiday came in and kicked him out. The doctor had told Travis he could come back if Jen wanted him for support while she filled out the police report.

While Jen lay in the bed, the doctor checked her out before running another set of blood tests. Then the doctor took a seat to ask her some questions. “Jennifer, do you remember having intercourse with the man you went on a date with?”

Jen looked at Dr. Holiday. “I don’t remember much, but I had sex yesterday at noon. Otherwise, I haven’t had sex for a week. Why?”

“Since you don’t have any memory of the attack. I’m going to run a pregnancy blood test and a rape kit on you.”

“I’m not pregnant,” Jen said, wondering if this was normal. She wasn’t worried about getting pregnant. Travis had had a vasectomy.

“But you did have sex yesterday at noon, and a week ago. It’s just a precaution because we had to pump your stomach last night. We are also running an STD test. These are all normal tests after drugged women are brought in,” Dr. Holiday said firmly.

Jen looked at the doctor. She hadn’t thought about diseases, but Travis said he had seen her before Luke was able to take her away. “Well, the guy I had sex with is fixed,” Jen said confidently.
